There are three types of inspections:
- Visual inspection

- Maintenance inspection
Once a year
- Internal maintenance inspection
Every 5 (carbon dioxide and water-based extinguishers), 6 (stored-pressure extinguishers), or 12 (stored-pressure and cartridge-operated extinguishers) years.
